Company History
In 1980, Unison was founded by Gary Wert. At that time, the company was named Gary Wert and Associates and focused solely on small group insurance. With a strong emphasis on client service and technology, the company continued to grow and add employees with specialized expertise. In 1998, the company changed its name to Unison to reflect its mission of providing coordinated benefits strategies to clients (getting employers, employees, and insurance carriers to work in unison as a cohesive team). In 2005, as Unison continued to grow, Doug Luick became the president.
Today, Unison continues to be a leader in technological development, employee benefits solutions, and customer service. Unison is one of the only benefits management firms that has specialized departments to handle the specific needs of Minnesota employers: large group employee benefits, small group employee benefits, employer sponsored retirement plans, and individual and family insurance.

 National Association of Health Underwriters (NAHU)
Unison is a strong supporter and member of NAHU and it’s local chapter MAHU (Minnesota Association of Health Underwriters). NAHU represents licensed health insurance agents, brokers, consultants and benefit professionals who serve the health insurance needs of employers and individuals seeking health insurance coverage. We enhance our professional skills and service through the continuing education opportunities offered by NAHU and MAHU. In addition, being an active member in both groups allows us to stay current on issues and trends in the health insurance industry.

This honor is presented annually at the MAHU Sales Congress and given to the candidate who has a well-rounded background, contributes significant time and talent to the health insurance industry, and represents the finest example of community leadership.
