In addition, we’ve implemented new procedures for handling private health information while undergoing vigorous training with a leading compliance consulting organization. The result?

Encrypted E-mail
One of the most important strides we’ve made in terms of HIPAA compliance is through secure e-mail. E-mail has become the primary mode of communication between Unison, our clients, and health insurance carriers. As personal health information is often being sent through e-mail systems, we’ve set up an e-mail encryption service with ZixCorp, one of the top encryption service providers in the country.
When you receive an e-mail from Unison that carries personal health information, the message will contain a link to a ZixCorp sign-in website. Initially, you’ll need to set-up a password to enter the system where you’ll access the full e-mail, download attachments, and send a secure reply back to Unison. After initial set-up, you’ll be able to use this sign-in for future secure correspondence.
If your company already has a ZixCorp encrypted e-mail system, you’ll receive secure e-mails directly to your inbox. You don’t need to sign-in to ZixCorp to read messages.
